Stroopwafels are delicious caramel filled waffles, which originate in the city of Gouda in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands they are very popular and are the best selling product in Schiphol airport where they are sold as souvenirs to take abroad. In Japan, there is a growing interest in stroopwafels, and various upperclass supermarkets have started to put the imported stroopwafels on their shelves and even major coffeeshop chain stores are offering them on the menu.
